Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students are very varied learners and many benefit from tasks that are hands-on and visual. The manipulatives will allow students the opportunity to be more engaged with the lesson. Graphing is an important standard in the sixth grade curriculum and these different materials will help our students to better understand both positive and negative numbers and how to graph these numbers on the coordinate plane. Using the large magnetic board in whole class discussions and lesson as a model will help our students be able to independently work on tasks. The magnetic board will also be beneficial during our small group lessons where we can tailor material and best meet the needs of the individual students. Students can use the magnetic whiteboard to work collaboratively to explore and demonstrate their understanding.
