My Students

My students are students with disabilities, particularly classified as on the autism spectrum. My students are all special and unique as they all learn differently and their lessons are all differentiated to meet their needs. Almost all of my students require a constant, routined, visual schedule along with all visuals in detail of what is asked of them, from behavior charts to social stories, from limiting behaviors to keeping them on task. They also need reward charts.

My students require visuals in order to organize their thoughts as well as to produce their voice.

Some of my students are verbal and some are non-verbal. Some are independent and some are in need of physical assistance. Everyone of my students offers something special through their excitement when they like a well thought out, hands-on lesson that sparks their attention to requiring a verbal praise or physical praise such as a high five or hug.

My students are unique in the way they learn; however with the proper materials, these students are given opportunities to participate in school, communities, and with their families. Please give them the chance to succeed as they all need help.

My Project

All these materials make it possible for all my students to continue working and learning in all academic and social areas. My students require specific materials that most people would not realize until you have had the opportunity to first-hand experience and see what my students are capable of, until you see how visuals and hands-on materials make a true difference in the lives of each and everyone of my students.

Materials will be used for making worksheets that are created and differentiated for all learning styles.

I would be able to make visuals such as schedules , voice meters, step-by-step tasks to be completed, behavior boards to limit behaviors, and token reward boards. I would be able to laminate them so students can use them over and over at home, in communities, with families, and for myself to create and use remotely. The materials would also be available for students to organize their thoughts as I would be able to create graphic organizers to aid in auditory processing and help give them opportunities to express themselves, whether verbal or non-verbal.

Students with disabilities learn by doing and this requires a lot of hands-on lessons. Most hands-on lessons require hands-on materials, which require a lot of resources. The joy that these materials bring to each of these students is so rewarding!
