Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have come into high school behind grade level but these students are not quitters. We have a strong culture of achievement and encourage all students to prepare for and apply to college.

Were you to walk down the halls of my school, you might think you are in the United Nations.

We have students from five continents (and more than that from a number of islands) representing a diverse array of languages and cultures. My students are a mix of new immigrants and native born Americans. All of them want to succeed.

My Project

My special needs students sometimes benefit from extra scaffolding to access lesson material. this project involves materials for such scaffolding. The scaffolds include physical constructions of our math.

I intend to provide hands-on projects, building mathematical objects the students can explore in both visual and tactile modes.

The roll of paper and markers are to provide a medium for our robots to trace their paths, giving feedback on success or failure in programming. The bamboo skewers and hair rubber bands will be used to construct 3D representations of some of the equations we study. The wood glue is to hold our constructions together.
