Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The academic demands of the 2018-2019 classroom, for all my students, are greater than they have ever been. My students embody a variety of cultures including Marshallese, Latino, Asian, and African American. Despite their cultural differences, 98% of them also live in poverty - many of whom are first and second generation immigrants.

Even though we have these significant challenges and staggering statistics, our school was awarded the top 10% in growth in our state, something our​ community is extremely proud of!

My Project

The 21st-century learner is asked to be able to meet the demands of a world that doesn't even exist yet. We need to be able to teach students to be critical thinkers and problem solvers, so they can rise to this incredible challenge.

Allowing students the opportunity to code/ program gives them the chance to start programming and have success with multiple projects.

Learning programming drives problem-solving in logical and critical thinking.

We will specifically use these micro:bits to invest in the lives of our future learners to be able to tackle unknown problems and create diverse critical thinkers.
