This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I teach at our district's Career Academy for the fast-growing Barbering Pathway. This new career option at our school has exploded and is in high demand among our students - 50 in Year 1 and over 100 registered for the new school year! We need to expand the equipment and supplies available in a big way! We are still trying to get our classroom set up like a real barber shop so the students will learn all aspects of the business, including barbering skills, shaving techniques, beard grooming, sanitation practices and business management. They can even graduate with a Master Barber License!
