Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Young teens, especially our freshmen ladies, deal with so much pressure to look their best day-to-day. For some of our freshmen, access to products that will help them to look and feel their best is often limited. Young ladies want to fix up their hair, their makeup, and their outfits so they can look and feel good throughout the school day. Not only that, but the vast majority of our students walk to school each morning. The pressure to get to school on time means that some mornings they may forget to work on their hair. Other times, inclement weather may prevent them from looking and feeling their best. Finally, our city (Trenton, NJ) is a sanctuary city. More than 50% of our population are newcomers to our country lacking most, if not all, of the basic supplies they need to get through their school day. These materials will help them to feel safe, warm, and cared for!

In this project I aim to provide my freshmen girls with some basic hair care products that they can use to fix up their hair during lunch.

When young ladies get stuck in rain or snow, are running late, or may not have access to products, I want them to be able to find a place in school where they can comfortably fix themselves up. These products will give them that opportunity!
