My Project

Hot dogs! Fifty cents! Buns for a quarter!! A real hot dog stand cooking up an afternoon snack for these growing mathematicians! My plan is to open a pretend store using plastic money. With the hot dog roller we will cook hot dogs and buns and “ sell “ them to the students. Students will learn about the value of coins while spending them and making change.

These sweet children will learn about money using apps on the iPad and then use that knowledge at a real life “hot dog stand”.

They will use their love of digital activities to gain a working knowledge of money and coins. The assessment will be the process of “buying” a delicious hot dog.

To further the lessons, students will have classroom chores where they can earn plastic money as payment. Once everyone has enough to buy more hot dogs, and other prizes, the hot dog stand will reopen for everyone!

In addition we are requesting Colorful Strong Magnetic Push Pin Magnets to hang up money classroom learning aids.
