My Students
My school is committed to providing a safe, child-centered environment that offers students the maximum opportunity to learn and achieve academic success. Our mission is to help our students acquire literacy and become critical thinkers through a curriculum that is rich, balanced, and aligned with performance standards.
Our resources are limited, and we need your help.
These materials are for multiple fourth grade classes that are located in New York City.
Nearly all of our students are from low-income households and have extremely limited resources. Our elementary school has grades PreK-5 and houses over 600 students in two separate buildings. Basic materials have become difficult to acquire for our Title I school.
My Project
By contributing to this project you will aid in the growth of these amazing students. They desperately need alternate ways of building language skills and these sports games will provide it by allowing them to interact with each other, solve problems as teammates by reasoning, and develop a foundation of team sports. They will use this equipment to play tag games safely. Tagging each other, even one handed tags, can easily cause someone to fall over or trip. The flag belts provide a safe alternative to this problem. Students simply pull off each flag and drop it to the ground. They also will learn how to throw and catch a ball correctly.
Some students lack interpersonal skills because they haven’t experienced the benefits of team sports.
They will learn how to cheer for each other, how to challenge each other and respect their opponents. I can teach them the skills of teamwork, unselfishness, sportsmanship, running, throwing, cheering and support for one another.
