Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Nowadays, it's crucial to share cultural practices with our students to foster empathy and understanding in our society. For this reason, I find it imperative as a teacher to foster an understanding of different cultures. The majority of my students do not know a lot about Asian culture. My students are amazing motivated English Language Learners but they come from low socioeconomic backgrounds with limited resources available to them.

The books will be a great addition to our classroom library, allowing my students to make connections between their work and long-standing traditions of the Lunar New Year.

Students will make some lanterns to decorate for the day. Students will experience the togetherness of sharing a meal. We will enjoy some ramen noodles, mooncakes, fortune cookies, and tea. We will grow some lotus flowers in our classroom. This will remind us of what we have experienced all year. They will learn about the Lunar New Year and celebrate! Thank you so much for helping us celebrate.
