Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In today's interconnected world, fostering empathy and understanding across cultures is more vital than ever. As an educator, I believe it's crucial to expose my students to diverse cultural practices. My students are incredibly motivated English Language Learners, but they come from under-resourced backgrounds. While many may not be familiar with Asian cultures, the tradition of cleaning and preparing for a fresh start resonates universally.

With your support, we can bring the spirit of the Lunar New Year to our classroom.

Students will actively participate in cleaning and preparing the space, symbolizing the tradition of welcoming good fortune. We will wear red, a color associated with luck and prosperity in many Asian cultures.

Through this hands-on experience, students will learn about the significance of the Lunar New Year and its associated traditions. This celebration will not only be a fun and engaging activity but also a valuable opportunity for cultural learning and fostering a sense of community within our classroom.
