This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach acoustic guitar to my students throughout the school year. For some of these kids it will be the only time in their life to learn how to play an instrument.

I have 36 students in my class.

They range from gifted, average, below grade level, far below grade level, and special needs students. The students in my class are highly motivated and eager to learn. They become extremely inspired when the guitars are used as a tool of instruction.

My Project

I had a total of 6 guitars which have to be shared with 36 students. This means I have to conduct lessons on a rotation basis. Its difficult , but I have developed a system that has been working out. Now I am down to only 5 guitars, which has become a great challenge.

Music is the ultimate equalizer that brings us all together. It reaches across the curriculum and is another modality which can allow students to gain access and learn.
