This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Urban Education is a lively, upbeat, energetic environment. While so much pressure is on test scores, Student Learning Outcomes, and benchmarks, the focus of artistry has often been lost. Students crave music and have limited opportunities to learn due to forgotten funding of the Arts. Help us regain our song!
My students are creative, talented, eager to learn, collaborative workers.
They look forward to new ideas, and they sing and dance every moment a jam comes through the speakers. Creativity is the highest form of understanding. They want to know how to create music like the masters of our time. The skills used in playing a musical instrument have been proven hundreds of time to increase test scores, literacy, math skills and so on. It's time our school brings back music through instrument study!
My Project
These guitars will serve our students' ambition to serve our community. With these guitars, students will have an enhanced learning environment of hands-on music making. Students will learn the discipline is takes to become more than a beginning musician. Students will further their skills by writing, creating, and performing music through the guitars to younger schools, community centers and families of the community.
This project will change the lives of many students who have access to very few opportunities that are not test related.
This project, guitars for our classroom, will provide a stress-free learning environment where students can use music as an outlet to their challenges and struggles that they face individually every day.
