My Students

Our middle school has a thriving GUITAR program to help bring music to all students. These students learn to read music, strum rock songs, and play killer riffs. These students have won several contests including a meet-and-greet with Weezer, an autographed guitar from Collective Soul, and were recognized by the Country Music Association and Radio Disney with awards in 2017. The program has taught over 1,000 middle school students to play guitar over its years of existence. Guitar has been such a great tool in the hand of my students, and I look forward to continuing to improve upon my instruction on the instrument.

My Project

The Teaching Guitar Workshop helps teachers in integrating teaching the guitar and ukulele into a school environment. I have personally been teaching guitar in the school for the past 10 years and have seen some incredible results. Students are excited about learning guitar and making some incredible music. The program has grown from 20 students in its first year to over 200 students this year who have learned to play this guitar during the 2018-2019 school year. I am seeking more training to continue to be innovative in the field of music education to give ALL students music in our public school system!
