Our students here at Sellers MS come from hard working parents most of them are new to the country. Thus presenting several challenges for the students as well the parents. However, the students are eager to meet these challenges. We would like to provide a unique yet rewarding opportunity for learning.
My Project
The goal of our Guitar Club is to introduce and expose our students to the healing power of creating and learning music via playing the guitar. Learning to play the guitar will help our students improve their memory capabilities, enhances their hand-eye coordination, increases their study habits, and reveals the importance of teamwork. Learning to play a musical instrument enhances our students’ ability to process and problem solve. Improves their self-esteem, develops their confidence as they master playing a musical instrument.
In conclusion we have noticed that learning to play an instrument produces several positive effects on our student’s bodies and brains.
This engagement of learning to play the guitar activates the left and right brain and this activation of both hemispheres has maximized the learning in the classroom. Therefore, contributing to a healthy mindset for our students in the community.
