In my first grade classroom we follow the four blocks classroom. The children participate in self-selected reading, guided reading, etc. My concern is that our classroom library is very limited for these young readers who are just starting to read because my school doesn't provide classroom books and materials to teachers. Everything in my classroom is my own personal materials and this is only my second year of teaching. Needless to say, the options for my children and my teaching of guided reading is very limited. Please help our classroom by giving us leveled readers and guided reading books and materials. I would love classroom sets of books that are age appropriate and some big books to teach from. The children need a variety of books to read when it is time for them to select them. I have to print paper books for them to bring home and read because we don't have enough books to send home with them. How are my children going to enjoy and learn to read without resources available to them? At this point in the year most of my children are below grade level in reading because we don't have the materials here to help them and they don't have these reading materials and books at home.
