Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a variety of grades and ethnic backgrounds. I love how curious they are about the world around them and how they make it their mission to create an atmosphere in school that is inviting and inclusive to all. I work with classroom teachers to help foster and build leadership and community in each and everyone in our school. I also work with a small group of students called the lighthouse team that creates and heads all community service projects within our school building fostering leadership and kindness in everything we do.

My Project

My main goal is to make sure my students fully understand why its important to have empathy for others as well as to show kindness and be an up standing citizen in our school community as well as outside of our school community. As a teacher of literacy/Art and connecting leadership values its important that my students have texts that help them make valuable connections to our learning as well as other tools to help them internalize what we learn during classroom instruction. In this time of uncertainty we need to enforce kindness and empathy and leadership values in our students. These materials will help me to continue to ensure that my students understand and use what they learn to create a better future for us all.
