My Project

My students hail from a diversity of cultures, home languages, and life experiences. They walk into the classroom with varying levels of academic readiness and achievement in grade level subject areas. But what they have in common is that they are all capable of learning and excelling in grade-level standards, even when it doesn't feel that way to them sometimes.

This is where growth mindset comes in.

Positive, colorful growth-mindset posters all around the classroom can remind students that mistakes are only opportunities to improve. That what they struggle with and find difficult are skills they haven't learned...YET...but are possibilities set before them to achieve through determination and perseverance.

Sheet protectors proudly displaying students' writing, their art, and their math workshop skills can demonstrate the progress they've already made and the fruit of students' thinking and applying.

Speaking of displaying work, individual sets of color pencils and a reliable and sturdy classroom pencil sharpener will allow students to add color and pop to their work, heightening engagement.
