Growing Words: a Garden for Language, Plants, and Hope

Help me give my students a Gardyn System to engage in hands-on learning that builds their English skills, teaches science concepts like life cycles and sequencing, and helps them grow real-world skills through teamwork and project-based experiences.

My Project

My students are incredible young learners who face more challenges than many children their age, yet they come to school each day full of hope and a desire to grow. They are English Language Learners working to build a strong foundation not just in academics, but in life itself.

This gardening project, with garden hydroponic systems, will offer them a powerful, hands-on way to learn both language and essential real-world skills.

Through caring for plants, students will practice sequencing events, writing about life cycles, expanding their scientific vocabulary, and applying critical thinking. They'll develop teamwork, responsibility, and a deeper connection to the natural world — all while strengthening their English through meaningful, project-based learning.

Every leaf they nurture will represent new words, new ideas, and new confidence blossoming inside them. This project will help them not just learn English — it will help them live it.
