Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I always say Look, Listen, Learn! To learn academic vocabulary students must do all three. A challenge for kindergarten is to learn academic vocabulary and my goal is to have my students learn many academic vocabulary words and be able to understand how and when to use these words.

My school consists of many ELL students, students with special needs and low income families.

Our teachers are among the best educators and the challenge for us is the lack of hands-on resources that can give that extra learning experience to our students. The use of hands-on activities and visual aids are imperative to ELL students and students with special needs to comprehend and retain their learning.

My Project

The materials that you would so generously donate would enable our students to "Look, Listen and Learn". The flip charts, comprehension practice cards, word of the day and word games would make learning fun. The hands-on activities and visual stories use important comprehension strategies so our students can learn the most important academic vocabulary necessary for future reading comprehension.

The use of the materials would greatly increase the chances of our students being college and career ready.

This, in turn, will create those lifelong learners who will become successful future leaders.
