My Project

My 4th grade class has adopted a Russian tortoise named Aleksei. We have been learning about taking care of him through various lessons on thermoregulation, enrichment, and more. We have also been learning about a healthy diet for a Russian tortoise. We have been surprised with what he can and can't eat, and doing some research into why.

Our next step will be to grow food for him.

This will not only be a part of our tortoise lessons, but also additional lessons on plant parts, agriculture, and food sourcing. Since we are in an area that makes outdoor gardening difficult, we have asked for indoor hydroponic gardens and accessories.
