My Project

Gardening is often seen as a hobby for adults, however, it holds a special place in the world of Montessori education. This is our first year as a public Montessori school and I am looking to extend our indoor learning to the outdoors.

Gardening is more than just nurturing plants; it cultivates essential values and skills in children.

The goal for this project is for our students to transform our courtyard into a gardening area in which students, teachers, staff and parents can relax and enjoy the flowers and trees. Students will be able to develop their fine and gross motor skills, cognitive skills, and literacy, math and science skills. Gardening will also teach them responsibility and discipline as they learn to care for something and understand the consequences of their actions.

As a first year Montessori school, we are looking for ways to extend our learning outdoors and incorporate Montessori principles. We believe that funding our project will allow all of our students to work together to accomplish something beautiful for our school.
