My Project

We are thrilled to have been awarded a grant from the Captain Planet Foundation to launch an after-school garden program specifically designed for our ENL (English as a New Language) students. This program aims to provide a hands-on learning experience that blends language development with environmental education, fostering a sense of community, responsibility, and sustainability among students from diverse backgrounds.

Project Description:

In our ENL after-school garden program, students will learn how to grow and care for plants while building essential language skills and developing teamwork and leadership abilities. The garden will act as an immersive, living classroom where our students can engage with the environment, cultivate language skills through shared experiences, and connect with peers in a meaningful, interactive way.

While the Captain Planet Foundation grant has allowed us to lay the groundwork for this project, we still need support to make our vision a reality. Essential items, such as a hose, pots, and seeds are needed.

Project Goals:

• Language Enrichment: Engage ENL students in language-building activities through interactive lessons about plant science, ecology, and environmental responsibility.

• Community Building: Help students feel a sense of ownership and pride in their work by involving them in all stages of the gardening process, from planting seeds to harvesting crops.

• Environmental Awareness: Teach students the value of sustainable practices and the impact they can have on our environment through experiential learning.

By supporting this project, you will not only help us build a garden but also cultivate a nurturing, inclusive learning environment where our ENL students can thrive. Every donation brings us closer to creating a space where our students can grow—both as learners and as individuals.
