My Students

I am an elementary school counselor at a public school In Brooklyn, NY. I work with students across all grades K-5. My students all have different needs and goals but overall are learning how to identify and express their feelings. They are learning coping skills to help manage their emotions. They are learning how to resolve conflicts. My students are also learning resilience and about having a growth mindset. My overarching goal is to help students feel safe and comfortable being who they are.

My Project

This school year will be different from other years. I will be counseling students both remotely and possibly in person. While in past years we would share materials this year that is not possible.

I want to provide each student I counsel with their own set of art materials such as journals, markers and pencils so all of my students will have access to the same supplies.

My overarching goal is to help my students feel safe and be able to express their feelings. Expressing ourselves through art is very powerful. These materials will help my students do that.
