My Students

My students come in every day eager to learn. Early on, we set high standards and my students work diligently to meet them. We strive to find new ways to make these high expectations fun and help each other along our journey.

My students enter from many different home situations to work together as a family in our classroom.

As a Title I school, many of my students are lacking some of the things needed to fulfill their basic needs. School is a place where they can come for safety, stability, and a sense that they can achieve anything.

My Project

My students need materials for growth and creativity in STEM areas. My students have begun coding weekly this year. The growth they have shown in their creative problem solving and peer communication skills has been tremendous! They are also very motivated by these outside-the-box type of activities.

These STEM materials would provide hands-on, engaging, open-ended activities for my students to explore these areas in new ways, especially with some added technological aspects.

Our STEM area is missing a few items especially in the area of technology. The Osmo system would enhance both STEM and literacy standards in a hands-on way using technology that the students will love. The coding program will allow them to work on that next step in their coding process to use it in a different format. The Pizza Game works on a variety of math skills in a real work scenario. It will be a multi-faceted tool to add to our classroom learning environment.

The different building materials will allow students to practice planning out and then creating their own open-ended and guided building structures. This will improve their problem-solving skills and encourage the students to practice their communication skills when working with a partner to solve a problem.

Overall these materials will allow my students to practice science, math, engineering, problem solving, and communication skills using technology and materials that they would not be able to have access to otherwise.
