My Project

As the Activities of Daily Living (ADL) teacher, I am working with students to start gardens in their classrooms. They are learning and practicing skills to start and maintain an indoor garden. We have some supplies from last year thanks to donors to begin our gardening journey. As our plants grow, we will need potting soil and pots to transplant our seedlings into. We would also like to have a large grow light and self water spikes to help keep our plants alive and growing. My students enjoy planting seeds/watching the seeds grow and when we notice a green sprout they get excited.

Students can take the skills they learn and generalize them to an outdoor garden and taking care of plants at home.

They can see the results of their work and take pride in their work.

With these supplies, my students will be able to grow a garden and their skills. And as a bonus, students will be able to use the stuff they grow to make things, such as tomato sauce with all the tomatoes we will be growing.
