Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am proud to teach an incredible group of students who are passionate about the Lincoln Heights and Los Angeles community. My students are mostly from a Latiné background, and many are first-generation Americans who bring a rich cultural history to our school.

Despite our school being close a major highway, they have a strong sense of responsibility to the natural world and are eager to make a positive impact on the environment.

This project will help us create a native plant garden adjacent to our campus, a space where students can learn about local ecosystems, environmental stewardship, and the importance of preserving native species.

The gardening tools we are requesting will give students hands-on experience in creating a sustainable garden that benefits both our school and the local wildlife.

Our goals for this project are to provide students with an outdoor classroom that connects them to nature, supports their understanding of biology and ecology, and fosters a sense of ownership and pride in their work.

This garden will not only beautify our campus but will also serve as a living example of environmental conservation, something that will leave a lasting legacy for future students.

What makes my students special is their passion and curiosity. They are not just learners but leaders who care deeply about the world around them. This garden will be a reflection of their commitment to making the world a better, greener place.
