Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with bilingual English/Spanish learners from 8:1:1 and 12:1:1 classrooms in speech therapy. My special needs students have many different communication delays. They really enjoy reading using books in my therapy room, especially series and season themed books. My students benefit from picture books to enhance receptive language skills when they are non-verbal learners.

Through the addition of new books to our library with titles in Spanish and English my students will remain engaged and interested in new material as the school year progresses!

Working with literature is beneficial to my students when targeting wh-question comprehension, sequencing, describing, and story elements of the books we receive. I will be able to find adapted materials for books that are more difficult for my students. Thank you for the opportunity to provide new books and resources to improve our small speech space!
