My Project

Our students love having the opportunity to get their hands in the dirt and learn from experience. They are passionate about learning about the world around them and how they can make a positive impact on their community. They are excited to learn how things grow, how things in our environment work and how small steps can have a major impact.

The majority of our students come from low-income, high-need areas.

With these materials, I will be able to show them how to grow their own food starting from seeds using the soil, and how to care for the plants as they grow. They will be able to share their knowledge with their families and others in their neighborhoods.

The worm composting bin will ensure our gardens stay nutrient dense and healthy without chemicals or synthetic fertilizers. The hoses and attachments will allow us to water our gardens from our rain barrels.

My students may not have another opportunity to learn how to be self-sufficient while helping the environment at the same time. The skills they will learn with this project will have a positive impact on them, their communities, and the local ecosystem for years to come.
