My Students

Our Kindergarten scholars have a wide variety of reading abilities to which we want to encourage and develop. They already have a HUGE love of reading that we want to continuously inspire!

My students are incredibly energetic, passionate, and caring towards one another.

We have a strong classroom culture in which everyone is welcomed and all accomplishments are celebrated! Many of our scholars come from low-income households where supplies are limited at home. We believe that the road to college begins in Kindergarten. Our school provides free breakfasts and lunches, as well as many other resources, however we do not have a library and my classroom only has one bin of non-leveled books for students to read. Students at our school are exceptionally supported through our challenging and personalized curriculum, and we nurture the parent's involvement in their child's education. My kids are exceedingly thirsty for knowledge and always searching for new things to learn!

My Project

These leveled readers will be used on a daily basis during our center time, in which students have an opportunity to read books and do a book report independently. We want to lay a solid foundation for our scholars so that they will be able to build on to it and be successful throughout their lives. Our beginning, on level, and advanced readers need books that match their skill level and build their reading abilities. Having quality leveled books will aid them to develop their individual skills and become confident readers!

Developing reading skills in Kindergarten is critical as it is the foundation for rest of their academic career.

Students with a variety of choices in their reading tend to develop a greater passion for reading which in turn makes stronger readers. Reading successfully with books containing sight words they know and words they can sound out will dramatically increase the excitement my students have for reading!
