Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Imagine a classroom where young minds are not just learning about the world, but actively exploring it — where science, nature, and creativity come together in a hands-on experience. This project aims to introduce kindergarten through second-grade students to the fascinating world of hydroponics — a soilless, sustainable way of growing plants that will ignite their curiosity and teach them valuable lessons about science, responsibility, and the environment.

Our goal is to create a fully functional hydroponic garden in our classroom, allowing students to grow vegetables and plants while developing important STEM skills.

Through this innovative system, they will engage in observing plant growth, experimenting with water and nutrients, and understanding the importance of sustainability in food production. These young learners will be able to witness the life cycle of plants firsthand, from seedling to harvest, all within a space where they can actively engage in the process. The hands-on nature of this project will engage our young students in ways that traditional teaching methods can't. They'll grow their own vegetables, herbs and flowers, fostering not just knowledge but also a sense of pride and accomplishment. Your donation will help us purchase the materials needed to set up this hydroponic system, including grow towers, pumps, lights, and nutrient solutions. With your support, we can cultivate a love for learning and the environment that will last a lifetime.

Let’s work together to grow future scientists, environmentalists, and innovators — one plant at a time!
