My Students

I work with the amazing youth of New Orleans in a Title I K-8 school. My students are resilient and have preserved through an entire year of virtual learning. While over 60% of the student population has been diagnosed with PTSD, my school strives to be trauma-informed while acknowledging our students social emotional needs. Despite the struggles these scholars face daily, they bring joy into the school community by showing up eager to learn!

I have a dream that my scholars will become wonderful artists, scientists, mathematicians, and educators that make an impact on their community and world.

I enjoy learning from my students so that I can create a safe space for each learner to show up authentically as themselves. As I move into my third year in this school community, I am looking forward to watching my students grow into problem solvers!

My Project

I created this classroom project with the hopes of getting resources for my scholars to be successful reaching their learning goals this year. The folders will help students keep their work organized to turn in on time. The manipulatives will allow students hands-on access to understanding fractions and decimals. Students will benefit from math fluency booklet as it relates to closing gaps and retention of foundational skills. Most of the students entering 5th grade this year have missed out on learning since March 2020. Unfortunately, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are ongoing and directly hindering the growth and development of our young people. I want to ensure everyone has a chance to gain an understanding of adding and subtracting fractions/decimals as well as reviewing multiplication facts, which are at the foundation of majority of our work this year. Please help our class with these resources so that I can do my best to make sure no one is being left any further behind.
