My Students

Imagine a life without the bare necessities; food, clothing, permanent shelter, and attention.

I teach second grade in a high-poverty, Title I, urban, elementary school.

Ninety-nine percent of students receive free lunch. Though eager to learn, many students are faced with personal obstacles which stem from their socioeconomic environments.

Despite their challenges, they come to school daily for education, but mostly for a sense of purpose and unconditional love and acceptance. You might say they are, "Diamonds in the rough!" Pressured, yet passionate and priceless!

My Project

As a teacher, I try to advocate for my students and maintaining a welcoming classroom environment.

As an experienced teacher, I want to continue to make sure that my students and I are properly prepared for the upcoming school year.

These supplies will make sure that my students are able to have the resources they need as well as gathering resources for myself, such as supplies for our small group and teaching lessons like the stapler and hole punch. The large set of crayons, pencils, dry erase markers, white board erasers, and and glue will ensure my students have supplies throughout the year. The number generators (or dice as they are also known) and cards will be for math games students will be playing throughout the school year. The easel and sticky post it paper will allow me to make anchor charts about the things we learn all throughout the school year.
