My Project

The students at my campus largely do not understand where their food comes from nor have an opportunity to get hands-on with that type of learning. These above-ground garden beds will allow students to see that for themselves. They will plant the seeds, use the heat mats for sprouting, and then transplant to the outdoors in the above-ground planters. They will label their plants and learn how to care for them.

Students will have the opportunity to learn how to grow their own food, from seed to harvest, and experience the joys and challenges that come with navigating weather and pests.

They will tend to their plants, water, weed, and harvest. This is an important thing for students to fully grasp the work it takes to grow something and to learn responsibility.

Gardening is the school-wide favorite unit for STEM each year, and children are thrilled to have the opportunity to plant and grow things. This will be the beginning of our school garden.
