Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We live in a technological era and while it is important for our students to learn how to use such technology we must also take a step back and take our kids back to the roots. Our children need hands-on experience with learning where their food comes from.

I want my students to understand the importance of having access to fresh foods that come from the ground.

I want my students to see firsthand how a seed grows into a seedling. We tell our students where food comes from but many do not have the opportunity to see it in action. My goal for this project is to show our kindergarteners how plants grow.

The raised beds and planters will provide a space to grow the vegetables. The planting seed pots will be used to help explore the different amounts of sunlight helping the plants grow. My kindergarteners are an energetic bunch with minds full of curiosity. What better way to engage their learning than with a hands-on garden?
