Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing kids that love to learn and need creativity in their classroom lessons! These students have special needs that range due to varying exceptionalities. These students sometimes struggle with their interpersonal skills. Communicating is not always easy, however, teaching them is such a privilege. These students are creative and enjoy learning. They are different types of learners that thrive in environments where knowledge is gained through hands-on experience and activities. They enjoy various outdoor activities and using their senses to cure their curiosity!
My Project
These students love watching things grow! They enjoy learning about plants and health! This group of amazing students thrives in a hands-on environment! They are striving to eat healthier and are constantly speaking about the new wellness policies that the current first lady has created!
This project is kid inspired as it will provide these students the tools they themselves have asked for in order to grow healthy foods that they love!
They have seen the indoor garden set up in another teacher's classroom and would like to have one of their own to grow vegetables and herbs! Our students chose the sweet bell pepper seeds because they enjoy the sweet crunch of this vegetable! The empty pods will also allow the students to choose whatever seeds they would like to grow indoors! These Aero Garden units will enable them to take their interests and apply them in the classroom and it will assist them with teaching their peers about healthy foods as well! Nutrition plays a key role in these students' lives and now, thanks to this project, they will have access to fresh vegetables and herbs as well as the knowledge of how plants grow and how the vegetables and herbs provide them the needed nutrients to stay healthy and strong!
The best part about this project is that it will provide a way for these students to access fresh vegetables and herbs! These nutrient dense foods will be consumed on campus in multiple ways! Students will be able to use them in cooking classes as well as use them in our school cafeteria! These kids hail from a high poverty area where sometimes fresh vegetables can be hard to come by.
