I work with an amazing group of students who are motivated to learn about and explore the world around them. Their drive to learn about our Earth and investigate the way things work has motivated me as a teacher and made my transition to a new school a truly life-changing event.
My students' motivation and drive to work hard and understand what they are exploring is amazing!
I have students who constantly want to revise work, stay for help, and complete extra work to increase their grasp of new concepts. I am so excited to see the projects and work that continues to grow in the minds of my students.
My Project
Each year my classes complete a project at the conclusion of our human impact unit to share our own ideas with the school and community for reducing human impact on our planet. This year many of my students centered their projects around indoor gardening and rooftop gardening.
One of our best written and modeled projects this year requested we build mini hydroponic gardens in the windows of our hallway.
In order to bring this project to life, we need a portable power system that can run a water pump in our hallway and tubing, pumps, and media to create a vertical garden from old soda bottles. These materials will be used for years to come and can be shifted and reused in a variety of different hydroponics gardens, allowing it to be used for many future generations of students.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
