Help Mrs. Duran

I teach 3rd grade in an at-risk community. These kids come from poverty and need all of the support we are willing to give them.

My students love to learn. Coming to school is a safe place where they can grow and become anything they can imagine. My students face obstacles that that no 8-year-old should every have to face. Being able to take pride in what they have is all they have. A listening center is something they have expressed great interest in. They do not have books at home nor would they be able to listen to them. Being able to read is some thing that most of their parents are barely able to do and being able to empower them to help their families is priceless. This would be something they could take pride in and that would help them with their ultimate goals, which include staying in school, succeeding, and going to college.

The resource that I need is a listening center. My students will be able to gain comprehension skills, listening abilities, and just enjoy something they would never have access to otherwise. They will benefit from this listening center more than you will ever know. They will be able to use this center all year long to increase their knowledge and understanding of their world.

Your support will ensure that these under-privileged children are not overlooked. This will make a difference in their learning as well as their self confidence. Thank you for your support on this journey to impower America's youth!
