This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When I asked my students what they'd like to see more of in our classroom library, their answer was quick and straightforward-- more graphic novels. Graphic novels engage students in the classroom from the highest reader to those struggling the most. Graphic novels are incredibly engaging and can help motivate students to love reading.

Graphic novels are especially appealing to kids who think they don't like reading.

Kids just love graphic novels. These wonderful books are colorful, detailed, and very funny. Graphic novels are often the most popular items in our classroom library.

Year after year, I see reluctant readers get hooked on graphic novels. Graphic novels often have complex plots and characters, even if the words are a little easier to read. Since graphic novels use images to supplement the text, students below grade level in reading can often access age-appropriate stories in this format.

There's a good book for everyone, and I hope to grow our classroom library with a wonderful collection of graphic novels for students to enjoy!
