Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our Kinders are a smart, inquisitive, and thoughtful bunch, who love to explore taught concepts through hands-on, play-based, learning opportunities. The majority of our students speak a language other than English at home, identify as English language learners, and have had no prior schooling experience before joining us in Kindergarten. Introducing our students to learning through hands-on, play-based instruction helps them access content, strengthen their communication skills, build relationships with one another, and develop their academic and social language skills.

The items I've selected for this project are primarily hands-on learning tools that will be utilized during times of play-based learning, and small-group math and foundational skills instruction.

The dress-up, toys, and building sets will be used during times of cooperative, structured, and unstructured play each day. The math games, phonics tools, and dry-erase sleeves will be used during small group instruction and centers. The printer will be utilized in the classroom to create additional resources aimed at strengthening our student's understanding and skills as emerging language learners.
