My Students

Many of my students, who are only 3 years old are physically able to run, kick, and catch a ball. They love to run up and down the stairs of our apparatus, and even connect large blocks together to use as balancing. I noticed my students need more challenging equipment for the outdoor program. Gross motor skills are extremely important in how children are able to perform and function throughout the day. Learning how to control their bodies by walking, running, kicking, and riding a bicycle is important in learning how to play as a group and individually.

My Project

Supporting my students in developing their gross motor skills is essential to having a healthy mind and body. When my students play outside by moving their bodies throughout the playground, they become far more prepared to walk into a more structured and defined space. I strongly believe this donation will help my preschoolers improve on muscular strength. For example, they will learn how to exert force against resistance of the bike peddles. Their bodies will develop motor skills by learning how to appropriately move from side to side by using the hula hoops. They will learn how to move their bodies from left to right, and control the bike by learning body awareness. They will also learn to take turns on the bike. They will learn how to balance, hop, and count by using the jump rope. And lastly, they will learn how to take turns and improve their hand/eye coordination by tossing the ring.
