Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are pre-k students aged from 4 to 5. The school is located in the Bronx. My students love to play at a dramatic play center. They like to pretend playing different roles during the center time. The centers promote them with language development. Many students enjoy building different building models at the block center. They love to share their work with others.

The children are very excited to go outside to play.

They love to run and play with balls and look forward to going to gym class. They get so excited when I announce that they have gym for the day. They love to come to school and enjoy learning with their friends and teachers.

My Project

My students need to develop their gross motor skills through out the day. Gross motor skills are the coordination of movements that are required for large movements. They need to crawl, run, jump, throw and climb to develop their gross motor skills before fine motor skills. The balancing beams is the perfect way to develop the necessary gross motor skills. My students will be able to walk across while watching their feet to make sure they stay on the beam. They can practice walking forward and backward with their arms out to the side to maintain balance. Many children do not have many opportunities to play outside with their parents. My students will be able to practice balancing while having fun.
