My students need six griddles to make pancakes, eggs, and first and foremost, grilled cheese! These are definitely necessary for our food program and students will be relieved that we have these in the classroom.

My students come from many different backgrounds. Together I hope that through our time together they will develop a sense community, an interest in eating right, and become much more adventurous in the kitchen.
My school is a comprehensive public school in the suburbs, however the student population is ever-changing and diversifying.
As an elective course, I am my biggest cheerleader when it comes to promoting this course and having students decide to take it during course selection. Providing students with a fun and engaging way to make food choices for themselves and their families is key for their future growth.
My Project
This is a project for my students to gain valuable tools for the classroom. Without these griddles we will only be able to use our electric skillets (a longer, more time consuming process) for preparing grilled cheese (one of the first projects made in class). Students this year, and kids in the years to come will continue to find that this resource allows them to expand their food choices beyond breakfast.
Having a griddle (6) will make our choices unlimited in the amount of cooking labs that we can create.
The ability to work on projects similar to another school in our district will allow us to be contenders in the field of Cooking, Nutrition, and Culinary Arts - as we develop the skills for life, or gain an awareness of possible career choices, this will be based on your kindness in helping my students feel successful in whatever they pursue in their futures.
