My students need tools to monitor the new garden and technology to track their data in the field, including an iPad with a protective case, soil moisture probes, a soil test kit, and composters.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My high school students bound into the classroom full of curiosity and craving to learn. Our population of 1400 students is diverse with minority groups comprising 96% of our school. Though our school is underfunded and has its challenges, my students have expressed a lot of gratitude for what they are learning in my classes. I am motivated to giving them the best possible education so that their learning is memorable and joyful.
The gratitude of my students makes me want to work harder to give them the best education possible.
In order to prepare them for the age they live in, I do my best to expose them to current practices in our modern world. To do this, I need your help to provide materials for hands-on biology experiments.
My Project
I am starting the first school garden at my large, urban high school. Not only will the garden beautify our campus but it will be a platform for biological research. It will provide a valuable setting to analyze change over time and to witness firsthand the complex ecology of our local environment.
As this is the first garden at my school, I need support for tools to make sure that my students are able to conduct research in a meaningful and memorable way.
We need tools to monitor water, nutrients, and soil quality. We also need a garden iPad to keep track of our ongoing experiments. The iPad will be used to take and store data as well as to catalog garden pictures and video.
By supporting this project you are helping students discover a brighter, greener world. Your generosity will provide them with opportunities that will enrich the rest of their lives.
