My Project

At my school, we are excited to launch a greenhouse update project that aims to enrich our students' educational experience through hands-on learning. Using our already existing greenhouse, we plan to update and bring it back into function by acquiring essential supplies such as new planting beds, high-quality soil and seeds, and other necessary items to help us take care of our plants and to learn about gardening and the life skills of growing our own food. We plan to transform our existing greenhouse into a vibrant learning environment.

The items we are requesting are crucial for creating a dynamic and effective learning space.

New planting beds will allow for more efficient and productive gardening, enabling students to experiment with a variety of plants and crops. High-quality soil and seeds will ensure that they experience successful growth, which is vital for understanding plant biology and the life cycle of crops. The seed starting kits will help students start their plants as we move through the seasons. These supplies will facilitate hands-on, experiential learning, making abstract concepts in science and environmental studies more tangible and engaging, while also encouraging students to develop their social emotional skills by working together to growth and produce different fruits, vegetables, and plants.

Our goals for this project are to enhance educational opportunities to provide students with a practical, hands-on learning environment that complements their classroom education in science, technology, and environmental studies. All while developing students’ life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, and problem-solving while instilling a sense of environmental stewardship and healthy living. We also hope to improve community engagement by creating a space where students can collaborate on projects that benefit the school and neighborhood, such as growing fresh produce.
