This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Year after year, I'm blessed and lucky enough to teach and spend my day with the sweetest kiddos alive! I teach in a high-poverty, low-socioeconomic community in Southern Mississippi. Our teachers are the best and the kiddos are just so awesome.
Each day, they step off the bus, ready and so excited to learn.
In my classroom, I try to make learning as fun as possible, but we do not always have the supplies and materials that we need to succeed.
My Project
Our school district cannot afford a science curriculum for our first grade students and I want them to know and be exposed to just how much fun science can be! This project is all about Insects! We are requesting various habitats and farms such as an ant farm, a butterfly nursery, and a ladybug habitat to observe and study. We also need books about insects that will help my students investigate these topics further and an acrylic bug discovery kit. With this cool kit, my kiddos will get an up-close look at 12 amazing real bugs specimens!
My first graders love hands-on activities, and these books and supplies are just the perfect things to get their little minds learning about our environment.
Little ones need real, hands-on experiences to understand our environment. This project will also help other first grade classes at our school because we plan to share our supplies with other first grade classes. Please consider donating to our First Grade Science project!
