Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I absolutely love my 5th-grade students for their boundless curiosity, enthusiasm, and determination. Each one of them brings a unique perspective to our classroom, and their eagerness to explore and learn is truly inspiring. My students come from diverse and low-income backgrounds, which often means they face challenges both inside and outside the classroom. However, what makes them special is their resilience and their willingness to embrace new learning opportunities.

The resources I am requesting - plant/flower seeds and garden accessories - will make a significant difference in their learning.

These items will bring hands-on, experiential learning to life, allowing my students to connect classroom lessons with real-world applications. The indoor mini greenhouse will serve as a year-round learning lab where students can observe plant growth, understand the importance of sustainability, and develop a sense of responsibility by caring for living organisms. The seeds will provide the starting point for our gardening project, and the garden tools will enable students to engage in the full gardening process. from planting to harvesting.

My goals for this project are to teach my students about the life cycle of plants, the importance of healthy eating, and the environmental impact of growing their own food. Through this project, they will also develop essential skills like teamwork, patience, and problem-solving. Through experimental and hands-on learning, they will also build self-care routines that will help with their social-emotional development.
