My Project

As part of climate action education and awareness, our school is starting a Green Team with representatives from grades K-8. Our middle school students will take part in organzing and conducting waste and energy audits throughout the year to keep staff and students accountable. Having clean drinking water is essential to our health as well as feeling good throughout the day. We just got Elkay water refill stations installed this year and our students have been eager to shift from single use plastic but we need to boost climate action awareness!

Our goal is to inspire our students to take small steps to improve the planet we call home but first in our school community!

By providing rewards to participating classes, such as Brita pitchers and filters, we are instilling positive procedures to use reusable water bottles and reduce single use plastics in the school building. Our Green Team will collect data and use incentives like stickers for water bottles, badges, pins, childrens books, and in-person workshops from various community partners. We aim to start small but grow bigger each year with fundraising, practice in our procedures, and increased awareness. Help us make a difference!
