This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Innovation and Technology in Urban Gardening:

-Introduction to innovative gardening techniques like hydroponics, aquaponics, and smart gardening technologies.

-The future of urban agriculture and its potential to transform cities.

Health, Nutrition, and Wellness:

-The benefits of growing and consuming fresh, locally-grown produce.

-The mental and physical health benefits of gardening, including stress reduction and physical activity.

Teamwork and Project Management:

-Collaborative planning and execution of the rooftop garden project.

-Developing leadership and project management skills through gardening activities

Science (Botany, Environmental Science, and Biology):

-Students apply scientific principles to understand plant biology, ecosystems, and sustainability.

-Environmental science concepts are explored through the study of climate change, soil health, and water conservation.

Mathematics:

-Students use measurements and geometry in planning and designing the garden layout, calculating space requirements, and optimizing the use of available rooftop area.

-Data collection and analysis are applied in tracking plant growth, weather conditions, and resource usage (e.g., water, soil nutrients).

Social Studies and Geography:

-Exploring the history and cultural significance of urban agriculture in different societies and its impact on community development.

-Understanding how geography influences the types of plants that can be grown in urban environments and the challenges of urban farming in different climates.

English Language Arts (ELA):
