My Project

My incoming 6th graders have been described as “not readers” and kids who have “never read.”

I refuse to believe kids don’t like to read- it’s just that kids don’t like to read boring books!

For this reason we are choosing books that are high interest in adventure, protagonists that represent our student population and accessible.

I am so excited to bring these texts to our learners as they extend their thinking and build a love for reading. Each of these novels will be used to support closing of gaps created by the pandemic. We will work with an interventionist to target instruction for each learner and provide scaffolds for all learners to access texts.
