I am an elementary school teacher in a low economic area. I teach third grade in a community where the kids are not exposed to many things.
Some kids at our school never leave their area, and are never exposed to more than their local surroundings. In addition to not being exposed to many places, there is a lack of supplies for extra curricular activities due to our recent budget cut. The students in my class have expressed interests in many of the arts, but we are not able to fully explore those interests because the school's money must be allocated to other areas.
I would like to create a chess club for my students. For 24 students, I would need 12 chess sets. Playing chess will enhance my students mathematical and logical reasoning skills.
Your help would make a true difference in my student's lives. They will have the opportunity to be exposed to a mind challenging experience. Most of the students have never had the opportunity to play chess. They have either read about it or imagined that they were playing. With your help, they will be able to have that experience.
